[Composition] Magnolia bark (Houpo, ginger-processed) 8 qian; Coptis (Huanglian, removed of tops, stir-fried) 1 liang 3 qian; dried Ginger (Ganjiang, roasted) 1 qian half; Cinnamon (Gui, peeled) 1 qian; Croton cream (Baidou shuang) 4 fen; white Poria (Bai Fuling, peeled) 1 qian half (separately ground to powder); prepared Aconitum chinense (Chuan Wutou, processed and peeled) 1 qian; Ginseng (Renshen, removed of lu-tou) 2 qian; Prickly-ash pepper (Chuan Jiao, stir-fried until the sweat comes out) 1 qian half; Platycodon (Jiegeng) 1 qian; Aster (Ziwan, removed of seedling) 1 qian half; white Cardamom (Baikou) 1 qian; Tangerine peel (Chenpi) 1 qian; green Tangerine peel (Qingpi) half qian; Sparganium (Jing Sanleng, roasted) 1 qian; Asparagus (Tianmen dong) 1 qian.

[Indications] Lung accumulation (xiben): a mass covering the right hypochondrium as large as a cup; if long untreated, it causes alternating chills and fever, panting and cough, and lung abscess (lung congestion).
[Administration and dosage] Except for Poria and Croton cream, which are added at the time, grind the rest into powder and refine with honey into pills the size of a parasol tree seed. Start with 2 pills; add 1 pill on the first day and 2 on the second, gradually increasing until the stools become loose; then restart from 2 pills. Take with lightly decocted fresh ginger soup, away from meals; repeat the cycle, stopping once the accumulation has diminished by more than half.
[Modifications for clinical use] For long-standing lung accumulation that is hard to disperse, add Carapax Trionycis (Biejia), pumice (Haifushi), and clam shell powder (Ge fen); for chest pain, add Curcuma aromatica (Yujin) and Curcuma zedoaria (Ezhu).
Fellow patients may prepare this medicine themselves, but pay attention to dosage and administration. As long as the medicine is taken according to the method described by the ancients, this formula is extremely safe. Croton cream is detoxified by pressing it with white paper to absorb the oil, since the toxicity of Croton cream lies mainly in its oil.
