Disasters Will Come in Successive Waves: Protect Yourself Carefully

Looking out at a land everywhere turned to water, as a farm boy born by the Yangtze River who has lived through many floods, I feel deeply for the farmers. Of more than thirty provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions, twenty-seven have been stricken. According to general meteorological patterns, the second half of this year may bring a drought rarely seen in history. China's food security is at risk; grain reserves are not sufficient, and crops in many places have now been submerged. If there is a severe drought in the second half, this year's agricultural harvest in some places will approach zero.

This autumn and winter, the COVID-19 pandemic will reach its peak. Because of the nature of coronaviruses, the vaccine's period of effectiveness may be very short, and using it will make little difference from not using it. Under the impact of natural and man-made disasters, there is a fairly high possibility of severe inflation by year's end.

So everyone should still live the days ahead cautiously and carefully, and not spend money recklessly. For relatives and friends who have fallen on hard times nearby, help them as much as you can.

Disasters will further tear society apart, and problems of public order may grow more numerous.
