A Formula I Created During the Pandemic Still Works for This Winter's "Colds"
The various formulas I created during last year's pandemic period remain remarkably effective for wind-cold colds this winter.
Yesterday morning, my wife called out that her body ached and she felt fatigued. My first thought was that she had been infected. But she insisted she was just overworked and hadn't rested well over the past few days, and refused medicine. When she came back last night, she had fever, cough, body aches, and sore throat. Two days earlier she had been in contact with colleagues who were coming down with colds (of unknown cause; recently many people in Beijing have had colds, each spreading to a whole cluster). Now she realized it wasn't overwork but infection.
I took out my "Chaijie Jiedu Wan (modified formula)" that I made for family during last year's pandemic, gave her about 6-10 grams. After taking it she broke into a sweat, and within less than an hour all her symptoms were gone. This morning she woke up completely recovered.
The modified Chaijie Jiedu Wan formula is: Bupleurum (Chaihu) 30g, Cinnamon Twig (Guizhi) 12g, Scutellaria (Huangqin) 12g, Codonopsis (Dangshen) 12g, Northern Glehnia (Bei Shashen) 6g, Southern Glehnia (Nan Shashen) 6g, prepared Licorice (Zhi Gancao) 7g, White Peony (Baishao) 12g, Trichosanthes Root (Tianhuafen) 18g, Agastache (Huoxiang) 6g, Tangerine Peel (Chenpi) 6g, Eupatorium (Peilan) 6g, Amomum (Sharen) 6g, Notopterygium (Qianghuo) 6g, Angelica Pubescens (Duhuo) 6g, Peucedanum (Qianhu) 6g, Sichuan Lovage (Chuanxiong) 6g, Atractylodes (Cangzhu) 6g, Magnolia Bark (Houpo) 6g, Aurantium (Zhiqiao) 6g, Angelica Dahurica (Baizhi) 6g, Vitex Fruit (Manjingzi) 6g, Saposhnikovia (Fangfeng) 6g, Schizonepeta (Jingjie) 6g, Duckweed (Fuping) 6g, Sophora Bud (Huaimi) 6g, Ligusticum Gaoben (Gaoben) 6g, Polygala (Yuanzhi) 6g, Sour Jujube Seed (Suanzaoren) 6g, Eclipta (Mohanlian) 6g, Poria (Fuling) 6g, Ligustrum (Nüzhenzi) 6g, Prepared Soybean (Dandouchi) 6g, Cape Jasmine (Zhizi) 6g, Schisandra (Wuweizi) 6g, Loquat Leaf (Pipaye) 9g, Mulberry Bark (Sangbaipi) 9g, Lycium Bark (Digupi) 9g, Chicken Gizzard Lining (Jineijin) 6g, raw Hawthorn (Sheng Shanzha) 12g, Kudzu Root (Gegen) 12g, Platycodon (Jiegeng) 6g, Earthworm (Dilong) 12g, Jujube Meat (Dazao Rou) 30g, Dried Ginger (Ganjiang) 6g. Grind all together into powder, refine with honey into pills. Take 6-10 grams each time, 2-6 times daily. If fever persists and this pill effectively reduces it, it may be taken once every two hours until the patient's fever has completely resolved.
Indications of Chaijie Jiedu Wan: wind-cold cold with chills and fever, body aches, irritability and poor sleep, sore throat, cough, fatigue, with or without nasal discharge, dry or non-dry mouth, dark or normal urine, nausea and retching or its absence. The indications are broad; anyone with wind-cold cold, or wind-cold that has transformed to heat, may use it. If making pills is inconvenient, the above doses may be halved and decocted for drinking.
This is a formula I created by combining Chaihu Guizhi Tang, Jingfang Baidu San, Xiebai San, Erzhi Wan, and other formulas, then modifying according to people's symptoms during last year's pandemic. During last year's pandemic, I used this formula to treat many patients, including some with white-lung and viral pneumonia cases, with good results. I later tried it in neuroblastoma and leukemia, and it also had some effect in lowering tumor markers.
Recently there are especially many patients with infections, but because I just survived a car crash and nearly died and am recovering, I truly have no energy to attend to infectious-disease patients. I can only ask that people not take up my time with such questions; go find the various COVID-treatment formulas I published during last year's pandemic. As long as they match the pattern, they may be used. If my past formulas are ineffective, please go to the hospital. Thank you for understanding.
