Let's Help the Henan Flood Victims and Live a Low-Carbon Life

Waking up and reading the news on the Henan disaster again, I found the death toll had doubled, and I felt even worse. I discussed with my wife donating some money to Henan, and also urged my son to contribute a little of his pocket money to the disaster area.
Compared with celebrities and entrepreneurs, my income is far lower and I cannot compete with them in donation amounts, so I did what little I could and donated 2000 yuan. I also urged my son to donate, and he gave 100 yuan of his pocket money. We are an ordinary family and could only manage this much.
I expect my wife's workplace will launch a fundraiser in the coming days, and she will donate some then. We are not rich, but we lack neither food nor clothing and cannot bear to see others suffer. As a farm boy raised along the Yangtze, I know all too well what such a flood means to the people in the disaster area.
If you and your family also have the means, please lend a hand to the disaster area! Relieving the distressed and aiding the needy is a traditional virtue of the Chinese nation. In this disaster coverage we saw both the mutual help among the victims and the care of people across the country for them; this is where the light of humanity shines.
Learning from the pain: these years floods have grown more frequent, and once-in-a-century floods and droughts keep appearing. The root cause is global warming. Global average temperatures are 1.2 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels, and for every 1 degree rise in temperature, atmospheric water vapor increases by 7%. Global warming is making extreme weather events more frequent: dry seasons are drier than before, and the rainstorms of wet seasons are heavier than before.
The disasters caused by the climate crisis are approaching us, so I also urge everyone to think of our descendants and live a low-carbon, eco-friendly life; let us stop competing over luxury cars and mansions. If we must compete, let us compete over whose life is greener and lower-carbon! I will continue my life of taking walking as my carriage, not envying classmates and friends who own luxury cars. I also hope everyone drives less, consumes less energy, avoids extravagance and waste, and protects the environment starting with ourselves!
