Wishing All Readers and Friends a Happy Mid-Autumn Festival

Today is the Mid-Autumn Festival. I wish every reader a happy Mid-Autumn Festival and may all go well with you!

Thank you so much for your support and company over the years. When I was myself ill, I felt the support of readers from all over the country. By the rules of etiquette I ought to thank each of you individually. But in reality, because the number of greetings is truly enormous and my workload is heavy, I really do not have the energy to exchange pleasantries with everyone; I hope you will forgive me.

These past few years my study load has been heavy and studies take up much of my time, so the quality and length of the articles I write from time to time may not be what they used to be, because I truly cannot attend to everything at once. This period may last another five or six years.

Readers often hope to meet me and become close friends. It is not that I am unappreciative; it is simply that my energy is insufficient and I cannot spend too much time on socializing. I ask for your understanding.

Readers also often ask about my own studies and those of my child; I am grateful for this concern, but I hope everyone will maintain appropriate boundaries. The greatest taboo in human relationships is to speak too intimately when the acquaintance is shallow; there are many personal matters that we can only discuss with those close to us. I ask ordinary readers and ordinary friends not to inquire too much into the privacy of me and my family. When our acquaintance is not that deep, the best state is to keep the gentleman's friendship, as plain as water; that way our friendship will last longer.

The Mid-Autumn Festival is a fine occasion of beautiful flowers and a full moon. Here I wish that every reader and friend may spend this wonderful time with their own loved ones. May your whole lives go smoothly, in good health, and happily as you wish.
