Two Cases: Results of Applying Li Jifang's Xiaoyan Plaster in Tumor Patients

I previously wrote "Old TCM Physician Li Jifang's Family Secret Formula, Xiaoyan Plaster" (click the link to see the original), introducing a family secret formula of the old physician Li Jifang; interested readers can look at that article, which describes Xiaoyan Plaster in detail. Because I had no prior experience using it, I could not attach case records.

After writing that article, I had a lymphoma patient try it; after use, her frequent breast pain disappeared. At the same time, a reader of my official account tried the formula on their own and achieved very good results. So today I write to introduce their experience.

The formula consists of: Shancigu (Cremastra/Pleione pseudobulb) 30 g, Tubimu (Bolbostemma) 30 g, Wubeizi (gallnut, roasted through on tiles) 30 g, Chuanduhuo (Angelica pubescens) 30 g, Sheng Xiangfu (raw Cyperus) 30 g, Sheng Nanxing (raw Arisaema) 15 g, Sheng Banxia (raw Pinellia) 15 g. Grind all into fine powder, mix with vinegar paste into a thick paste, and spread on the mass; the area spread should be slightly larger than the mass.

The Li Jifang family were hereditary external-medicine physicians; three generations used this formula for luoli, ruuyan (breast rock/cancer), yingliu, and other yin patterns (roughly corresponding to modern tuberculous lymphadenitis, lymphoma, breast cancer, breast nodules, thyroid nodules, thyroid cancer, etc.), with many effective cases. This was a secret formula the Li ancestors bought for a hundred taels of gold, so it was kept strictly secret, not even passed to direct disciples. Li Jifang made it public, though few actually try it.

One of my lymphoma patients happened to have multiple palpable body-surface masses, so I had her try this external plaster combined with her original internal formula. But unable to procure raw Banxia and raw Nanxing at local pharmacies, she had to use fabanxia (prepared Pinellia) and zhinanxing (prepared Arisaema); after use the tumors did not shrink markedly, though breast pain clearly improved.

One reader, from Chongqing, after reading my article, boldly tried this external formula on a family member. The family member had long had a hard, immovable neck mass; prior examination could not determine whether it was benign or malignant. A professor at Chongqing Xinqiao Hospital told them to keep observing and act only when it grew.

This reader happened to know a Chinese-herb wholesaler, so he obtained the herbs per Li Jifang's secret formula, buying raw Banxia and raw Nanxing; he also bought vinegar paste online (Li had described how to make it, but this reader bought ready-made vinegar paste). Following my advice, he bought blank plaster patches to wrap the Xiaoyan plaster and applied it to the family member's mass. After about twenty days, the mass shrank by roughly two-thirds, and the remainder softened considerably.

This reader himself had long had a small swelling at the gum root; it suddenly inflamed recently, swelling half his face. He saw a dentist, who recommended extraction. He applied Li Jifang's Xiaoyan plaster externally on his face for three consecutive days, and the swelling subsided considerably. He joyfully messaged me reporting the plaster's efficacy.

So I write again to introduce the efficacy of Xiaoyan Plaster, hoping it helps similar patients.
