We Must Live Well Until the Day the World Becomes a Better Place

On the way to school with my son, I said to him: "Dad is sorry. For years, like most people in this society, I have been cowardly and selfish, standing by watching the injustices in society without contributing anything to improving the social system. So I failed to create a beautiful social environment for your generation, such that your most precious youth is being spent in anxiety and unease."

I encouraged him to seek in the future a land of his own where he would like to live. My duty is to provide the growth conditions he needs; wherever the happiness he wants lies, that is his home. He is an Earthling of the new era, not a nationalist or a populist, and must have an open heart and broad vision.

I am his father, and I will resolutely protect him from being brainwashed by any person or institution, preventing him from becoming a tool without an independent soul. My way of protecting him is to cultivate his ability to think independently and to protect himself. I want to raise him into a person who has both his own soul and the wisdom to survive, with courage as well as strategy—not someone who is easily swayed by others and lacks the ability to think.

I hope that when he grows up he can live in a great harmony world.

I maintain an optimistic attitude toward the future. I believe the world will develop in a better direction, and the world we are still very dissatisfied with today will undergo great changes in the not-too-distant future—but this requires us to work hard to push society forward.

We live in a great era. Never before in history has humanity been so interconnected through technology. The rapid advancement of technology will allow information to flow freely among the vast majority of people in this world. We have our own ability to discern; anyone who tries to deceive us with lies will be wasting their effort. We will use our own wisdom to create a better future.

The world of the future will differ from any society of the past or present. Human wisdom and courage will help us overcome all kinds of difficulties. We will ultimately live in a free and equal society, no longer having to endure injustice and fear because of some people's insatiable greed, nor being filled with violence and prejudice because of ignorance and lack of knowledge.

We must live well to enjoy such a future, and we must also strive diligently and wisely to create it. Humanity has come from the age of barbarism to today; the survival history of our species is an arduous history of struggle. On this road of struggle, we have not yet achieved final success; generations still need to continue to work, one after another.

I believe this day is not far off; perhaps within my lifetime I will be able to see the world enter a state of great harmony. By then, the general public of our society will share common values and voluntarily—not under coercion—live in harmony under the guidance of these shared values.

I will not cooperate with the injustices of this society, nor will I yield to any unrighteous force. All my life, I will speak out. Perhaps I will not be so radical as to sacrifice my life, but I will not stand by and watch unfair phenomena, allowing those who survive by violating the interests of others to continue their rampage.

I am still a young man, not a doddering old one. Forty is in the prime of life, not old at all. I still have enough vitality to strive; perhaps at eighty I will still love striving. I do not expect others to strive for the future of me and my family—what kind of life each person wants, they must strive for themselves. I must break free from all the cages this society tries to bind me with, flying freely under my own blue sky, and not allow anyone to violate my dignity and interests.

I also encourage my peers to maintain confidence in the future. I believe most of my peers share more or less the same views as I do, because in real life I have also met many people, and through interacting with them I can perceive the deep longing in their hearts. No force in the world can stop the yearning of millions upon millions of living beings for a better future.

Let us work together, for ourselves and for our children. Our descendants must live happier lives than we do; we must lay a good foundation for the future world they will face. For this reason, I am no longer willing to do nothing. I want to unite with those who share my aspirations, growing into a new force, together resisting the threats of those who try to destroy our dreams.

Only when we awaken and are willing to strive for our own future can we hope to succeed. I am willing to strive and wait to realize my ideals. Those decadent forces will be buried in the course of history, and the sunny era of humanity will surely come. As long as we are brave enough in our hearts, no one can make us yield.
