Trying Herbal Paste Formula (Gaofang) Instead of Decoction for Cancer Patients
Cancer patients need to take medicine over a long period. When undergoing TCM treatment, for some cancer patients who are not in the acute phase, one may consider using herbal paste formula (gaofang) rather than decoction (tangfang) for treatment. For patients who are unwilling to take medicine or who have difficulty taking it, one may also consider substituting the paste formula for the decoction.
There are two broad approaches when composing a paste formula. One approach is to use few herbs in large dosage.
